I have spent years doing two things at once: my own research, and building the people and programs around it. I am at my best when I can take someone from their first line of code to a finished project — and the programs below are where I do that at scale.
- Summer Institute in Computational Social Science (SICSS), Istanbul — Co-founder & organizer, 2019–2023. After attending SICSS-Helsinki in 2018, I helped launch the Istanbul institute and co-organized it — teaching assistant in the founding years, organizer by 2021 — training cohorts of roughly twenty early-career social scientists a year and drawing applicants from across the wider region. I wrote about building it for SAGE Research Methods.
- BLISS — Boston LLMs Initiative for Social Sciences — Co-founder. A funded initiative bringing LLM methods to social scientists: we secured the grant and ran a workshop series for a cohort of about ten. → bliss.boston
- Twitter Developers Community (Istanbul–Boston) — Community Lead, 2021–2023. A practitioner community around the academic use of the Twitter API, in the years before the platform closed off research access.
