Once a concept is formed, it needs an instrument. Much of my work is building them where none exist: duration-weighted, information-theoretic segregation indices for the dissertation; impulse-response estimation for relational event models in Network Shocks; and the classification pipelines that turn a million congressional speeches and 96,000 Turkish tweets into measured framings and dimensions.
An instrument is not finished when it runs — it is finished when it survives validation.
